Lobby Day FAQs

Q: What time are the lobby day events?
A: The Lobby Day is on Tuesday June 11th, starting at 10.15am. The day will consist of a meet and greet on the Million Dollar Staircase at the Capitol at 11:30 am, followed by lunch and lobbying meetings in the afternoon.

Q: Where should we meet?
A: Participants should gather in the food court at the concourse near the McDonalds by 10:15 am. We will walk over to the Million Dollar Staircase together for the press conference.

Q: Can I bring my child?
A: Absolutely! This is a “family-friend” issue being considered by the legislature, and we encourage you to feel free to bring your child.

Q: What should I wear?
A: Business attire or slacks/khakis with collared shirts is preferred. Avoid jeans, t-shirts, and other casual attire. You should also be sure to wear comfortable shoes – there is a lot of walking in Albany!

Q: Will I have to go through security?
A: Yes. All participants will need to go through security to enter the Capitol and Legislative Office Building. For more information on security procedures, please visit:

Q: Is this a partisan event, meaning will I have to tell people if I’m a Democrat or Republican?
A: No. There is no need to share any political affiliations. If participants live in an elected official’s district, the official may want to know the participant’s name and where they live.

Q: What should I expect in the meeting?
A: Participants will be attending meetings in small groups, meeting with 1-3 people from an elected official’s office. All meetings will have someone from the Coalition’s lobbying team in attendance, so there’s no need to worry about memorizing the specifics of the legislation. The most important thing is to share your story and why the Child-Parent Security Act is important to you!

Q: Can the Coalition pay for my travel?
A: Unfortunately, the Coalition isn’t able to pay for travel of attendees, but lunch will be provided.

Q: Do I have to make appointments with my elected representatives?
A: No. All meetings will be scheduled prior to the Lobby Day by our team, and all meetings will be attended in groups.

Q: I haven’t been through a process impacted by the Child-Parent Security Act, but I have friends or family that have. Should I still come?
A: Yes! The more people we have at our lobby day, the louder our voice.
