New York’s laws are painfully outdated and lag far behind most other states in easing the burden for families who rely on assisted reproductive technology, such as in vitro fertilization or gestational surrogacy, to become parents.

The Child-Parent Security Act aims to modernize New York’s antiquated laws, in order to support and protect families that utilize assisted reproductive technology. This legislation will ensure the legal rights of parents who enlist the help of a third-party to conceive, legalize gestational surrogacy, and eliminate demeaning requirements for LGBTQ couples and others to establish parenthood.
