Statement from Protecting Modern Families Coalition on Child-Parent Security Act

Today Family Equality CEO The Rev. Stan J. Sloan issued the following statement on behalf of the Protecting Modern Families Coalition:

“We’d like to extend our deepest thanks to Governor Andrew Cuomo, Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins, Senator Brad Hoylman, and Assembly Member Amy Paulin for their incredible advocacy and support of the Child-Parent Security Act. We’re grateful to have worked so closely with them on such an important piece of legislation for those who long to build a family, but who otherwise cannot do so on their own. We are deeply disappointed that the Assembly chose not to put the bill up for a vote, but we look forward to soon finishing the effort to ensure gestational surrogacy, and other family building measures, become legal in New York, and to furthering New York’s rich progressive tradition of protecting all modern families, no matter how they’re created.”
